Happy Monkey Monday!

Can you say MONDAY?   I can't. Not anymore! :-) I raise my glass to all of you that must go forth into the world today!  Do you know that since I've retired that I actually have to think what day it is when I wake up?  I know!!!!  Isn't it awful????

I'm still cleaning out the house here.  It's never ending.  But I can't do it all the time.  I work one day, then take a few relaxation days.  It works for me.  Got a few concerts lined up in the future and hopefully a little trip to visit friends.

I got rid of my carpenter bees.  The "Pest Man" came and plugged their holes up and said they would fly away and find another spot.  (Hopefully in that neighbor's house that I don't particularly care for).   I'm also getting the lawn into shape.  It's all looking good on the outside!!  But still somewhat of a mess inside.  Yup, that's my life at the moment.

Well, I really hope you have a great day.  I've got loads of things lined up for today.  I just hope it warms up a little.   (Yeah, soon I'll be complaining it's too hot, but hey, it gives me something to write about.)

Peace

The Weather and Vinny

Vinny

I'm wondering when it may get a little warmer here.  It's been real chilly and rainy all week.  Yesterday and today there's sun!!! But still chilly.  So there you have it...the northeast weather report.  Aren't you glad you stopped by?  ;-) (I even have a weather widget on my side bar! wow, you just get it from all sides)!  Lucky you.

I went to look at Vinny at the shelter on Friday.  He was rescued from another shelter that closed down.  He's 5 years old, house broken, a poodle and dashsound mix.  He had a great personality.  I would have taken him on the spot.  But they told me someone else is seriously interested in him and if they don't want him, I will be called....yeah right.   Now I'm thinking ...what was it about my visit (I brought Snotdog with me) that they didn't like?  Aren't they supposed to be happy that someone wants to take a dog home immediately, on the spot, like I'll take him!!!  I'll pay you the donation fee!  And they said no, not now?  Hmmmmm.

I did notice that Snot dog was not the least bit interested in Vinny. At. All.  So maybe it's not such a good idea.  Snot dog wants to stay the King of the Castle.

Have a sunny Sunday! ;-)

My Weird Friend

Some of you know that I am friends with Deb, of Boondoggled blog, (she's my blog idol). What you don't know is the strange and bizarre paths our conversations occasionally tend to follow. Here is a portion of this morning's conversation:

Deb says:
I gotta go to walmart and get Noah a birthday card, but if I leave a muslim will get my parking spot

Odat says:
lmao.....what??????????????

Deb says:
yeah after I read that the thought crossed my mind that this might just end up as a bloggable conversation. lmao

Odat says:
why, pray tell, will a muslim get your parking space?

Deb says:
cuz they are out to get me.. of course.

Odat says:
oh...ok, i get it now

Odat says:
aluminum hat time

Deb says:
actually its cuz my office is half a block away from the jihad church (it actually says jihad above the door), and I parked right in front of their door this morning when I got here

Deb says:
to make matters worse, the jihad church is directly across the street from the abortion clinic.

Odat says:
lmaooooooo

Deb says:
can you say the most dangerous street in savannah?? lol

Odat says:
sounds dangerous to me

Deb says:
when I got here this morning the catholics were in front of the abortion clinic saying hail mary's really really loud

Odat says:
omg

Odat says:
you should blog this

Deb says:
lol

Deb says:
maybe I'll log the entire conversation and just post that.. seems much easier. lol

Odat says:
that's easier

Deb says:
don't worry.. I'll use your fake name to protect your right to privacy. lmao

Odat says:
I know, you're a good friend that way

Deb says:
actually.. I won't do it if it bugs you.. just seems like a funny conversation. lol

Odat says:
no I wouldn't mind

Deb says:
oh cool.. your fans will be impressed that I am pals with you. hehe

There you have it. Another weird one. Thanks girlfriend.. you do keep me laffing. hehe
*P.S.: We decided to do the twin posts just for the comedic factor. Oh shut up, you know you laughed. (snicker)*

Mom Again

Mom & Dad

I went to see Mom Sunday....As you know she's got Alzhiemer's Disase.  She likes to talk.  Most of the words she says are gibberish, but I understand the point she's trying to make.  I always ask her questions. Where do you live, what's your name, have you been a good girl and so on.  I keep her talking and trying to remember. She knows her name and always says it...she knows what city she's in...but those are the only two consistent thoughts she has.  She knows my name but doesn't realize I'm her daughter.  She doesn't remember giving birth or being married, which makes me kinda sad.  All in all though, she's happy.  She 's always giggling and whatever she's thinking it makes her laugh and laugh.   Which in turn makes me smile too.

(That picture is an oil painting of my Mom and Dad.  My brother and I had it done for Mom awhile ago.  We took their black and white wedding photo and brought it to the artist who did an excellent job).

Happy Monkey Monday

She is just so cool.  Imagine, someone seeing monkeys and thinking of you!  It brings a tear to my eye.

Isn't it great????  When the alarm goes off, it screeches like a monkey...., that surely would get me out of bed so fast so I could through it against the wall!   Good thing I'm retired.   Anyway, I really did think it was the greatest and I want to thank her for thinking of me.   Go visit her and say hey, she's so cool, she snows.

My second monkey display comes to you via Roger, of Idaho Daily Photos.  I got this shirt from his Cafe Express site.  He designed the picture!!!  Yes I wore this shirt out and was thinking if anyone ever asks what the heck this means, it would be rather difficult to 'splain to them about Monkey Mondays...doncha think?

So there ya have it....Monkeys I possess from two people that are good friends.   It just amazes me, this blogosphere thing...to meet so many sweet people who make me smile. ;-)  Thank you!

Peace and hugs

Happy Mother's Day!!!

 Happy Mom's Day!

I don't know about you, but I really like my Mom.  She's funny and makes me laugh.

It wasn't always that way.  Especially when I was young and she would "forbid" me to do things and I always thought she was so wrong about things then.  After all, I knew better.  As a matter of fact, I knew just about everything back then. ;-) , didn't you?  And isn't it funny as we grow older, how very wrong we were and how right Moms always seem to be.  They're special and I give thanks to Moms today! Enjoy your day and give those Moms some hugs!

I Need a Nap Today

Yeah, yeah   I know I'm retired and you're thinking...why the heck do I need a nap?  Well, let me tell you, I've never been busier than I have been right now. (busy like a bee, even, hehe)  Some of it good, some of it not so good.  But there are things I just have to get done, things I don't feel like doing, things I didn't know how to do and had to learn really quickly .......and so on.   Let me tell you, it's been a learning process dealing with all the paper work, the house, me.....but I'm getting there...wherever "there" this all may take me.  I'm learning to take baby steps again....I hope I'm back running soon.

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Doesn't this look like a bumble bee?  I was sitting out on my patio the other day enjoying the freshly mowed lawn (sneezing my head off) and admiring my freshly sodden flower bed...when I saw some bees.  I'm not afraid of bees.  They are our friends...they pollinate our flowers...yada, yada, yada.   I thought to myself that wow, the bees are here already..too bad the flowers aren't up yet for them to taste...

Fast forward to the next day.  My neighbor saw me sawing my "weed" tree the other day and offered to take the rest of it down for me. (Saw me sawing...ahahaha...I crack myself up).  He was sawing away when he noticed lots of bees abuzzing.   Told me I probably have a nest of them up in the eave of my house....I thought that would be a good thing...to have a hive of honey bees!!!  How exciting!   Right?

Wrong.   He informed me that they're probably carpenter bees.    Carpenter bees????????  Never heard of em.  What, pray tell, (wtf) are those?   Those are bees that nest themselves into wood and bore holes to make their nests!!! Ergo, they're in the eave of my house boring holes??????? Damn.  Why haven't I heard of these before????  I quickly ran upstairs to make sure they weren't swarming into my house, boring holes into my bedroom, getting ready to attack when I wasn't looking.   I panicked....I wanted them gone! Now! Damn.

I called the exterminator....one that advertises using "safe" pesticides....(an oxymoron?) and told him of my plight.  He calmed me down informing me that they are very common and he'd be here on Thursday to take a look.   He'll have to plug up the holes they've bored to insure they don't come back next year.

So the moral of the story is.......
If it looks like a bumble bee and sounds like a bumble bee and buzzes like a bumble bee....it may not be a bumble bee!!!  Dooby dooby doo.  Beware!

I watched them all day as if my mean stares would make them go away.  They didn't. ;-(

Amazing Women

"Life isn’t about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.”
.....Author Unknown

The One Flaw In Women
By the time the Lord made woman, He was into his sixth day of working overtime. An angel appeared and said, 'Why are you spending so much time on this one?' And the Lord answered, 'Have you seen my spec sheet on her? She has to be completely washable, but not plastic, have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable and able to run on diet coke and leftovers, have a lap that can hold four children at one time, have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart -and she will do everything with only two hands.'

The angel was astounded at the requirements. 'Only two hands!? No way! And that's just on the standard model? That's too much work for one day. Wait until tomorrow to finish.'

'But I won't, ' the Lord protested. 'I am so close to finishing this creation that  is so close to my own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick AND can work 18 hour days.'

The angel moved closer and touched the woman. 'But you have made her so soft, Lord.' 'She is soft,' the Lord agreed, 'but I have also made her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish.'

'Will she be able to think?', asked the angel.
The Lord replied, 'Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason and negotiate.'

The angel then noticed something, and reaching out, touched the woman's cheek. 'Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model. I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one.'

'That's not a leak,' the Lord corrected, 'that's a tear!'
'What's the tear for?' the angel asked.

The Lord said, 'The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her love, her loneliness, her grief and her pride.'
The angel was impressed.
'You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything!
 Woman is truly amazing.'

And she is! Women have  strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
 They stand up to injustice.
They don't take 'no' for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes  and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE TINY FLAW IN WOMEN, IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

This is just to thank the amazing women in my life who have helped me in ways they'll never know.

Peace and hugs.

From Sad to Worse (In a good way) :-)

Now, you see, it's like this with grief. Sometimes you're just walking along whistling a happy tune and then smack...you walk right into a wall.
An unexpected one at that. And Bam...it all comes rushing back. This is a process. One I'm told to expect.

So anyway...today is Saturday, isn't it? Since I've retired I have a real difficult time figuring out what day it is.....

Ok now, since I've gone thru the gamut of emotions this week let me add another one here: SICKO...hehe. Yes, my sick sense of humor has not disappeared. When I get over a bout of feeling sad I always resort to reading sick humor (Matt-man of the Bagwine Blog is a good place for that but I digress). I'm sure I've posted these before but I think they're due for a comeback, just in case you have a baby shower coming up, these may be just the thing to get for the lil one.

Oh in case you're all worried bout the computer problems I was having the other day?  I'm sure you were!  They're resolved now.   This blog was typed using my BRAND NEW I MAC!!!!!!!!!!
(It's a wonderful machine!!!  I just have to get used to it and learn all it's functions.....Last night I was jamming with the Garage Band...making my own music!  It's pretty wild!)

Paul "Odat" Bunyon

I'm tired. Yes I can say that. I'm retired but tired. I chopped down a tree. Well, not really chopped, but sawed. It started out as me clipping off the bottom branches...and like a barber getting carried away with a haircut, pretty soon all but the top branches are gone. Now I'm looking for a chain saw! There's no stopping me....

Actually this started out as a weed. My hub left it alone, because he thought it would be a good barrier to prevent our neighbors from looking over the fence from their deck into our yard (which is a story for another day!). (We used to be be surrounded by woods until they paved paradise and put up town houses!!)

As you can see this "weed" grew and grew and grew. I used to always snip the bottom branches to prevent me from getting jabbed in the legs every time I opened the gate. And the "Lawn Man" said he'd take care of it for me soon. Well, soon wasn't coming and I was in a fighting mood so I found one of my husband's saws (a very good one at that) and started hacking away. Actually it wasn't as hard as I thought. (My hub's words came to me: "If you have the proper tool, the job is always easy". Words I used to always "Yes Dear" him every time I heard them...."whatever". ) Well...I must say, he WAS right. This saw cut through those branches like butter! Ok well, not exactly, more like slicing hard rye bread with a good serated bread knife. But I was doing it!!! And feeling good. So......some day....it'll be all gone.....I'm working at it.

Timing is Everything

I'm having major computer problems with my laptop ;-( which may require me to take it in for a tune up. While I'm there, I'm going to look at the little Apple notebook. There may be one with my name on it. In the meantime here's a little laugh.

She was standing in the kitchen preparing to boileggs for breakfast, wearing only the 'T' shirt that she normally slept in.
As he walked in almost awake, she turned and said softly, 'You've got to make love to me this very moment.'

His eyes lit up and he thought, 'I am either still dreaming or this is going to be my lucky day.' Not wanting to lose the moment, he embraced her and then gave it his all right there on the kitchen table.
Afterwards she said, 'Thanks,' and returned to the stove, her 'T' shirt still around her neck.

A little puzzled, he asked, 'What was that all about?'

She explained, 'The egg timer's broken.'
Peace
