Poor Lil Guy ;-(

My lil snot dog had surgery yesterday.....he had what is known as an elongated palate which is explained below and also had to have his notrils widened and some cartiledge removed that was pressing on his esophagus. He was having a real hard time breathing during this hot weather and was tiring out much too soon for a dog his age. He also went through a bad bout with pnemonia from this so I finally decided to get the surgery done. I felt so bad about it but the vet called me last night and told me that all was fine and lil snot boy was breathing better already! I'm going to pick him up a little later.......my poor lil babeeee..... ;-)
(btw his name is not really Snot, it's just what some of my weird friends call him and it kinda stuck)....

One of the the most common forms of airway obstruction in Brachycephalic (short muzzled) breeds is due to an elongated soft palate. The soft palate is an extension of the hard palate which forms the roof of the mouth. The purpose of the soft palate is to serve as a mobile flap preventing food and water from entering the nasal passages during swallowing. A soft palate that is elongated will either hang in front of the airway or will fall into the larynx during inhalation. Dogs affected by chronic airway obstruction (CAO) tend to breathe rather noisily when excited. Mouth breathing, snoring and snorting are characteristics of this condition. These characteristics become even more pronounced when the dog is hot or during periods of exercise. The dogs frequently gag in an attempt to clear their airway and occasionally bring up foam and saliva while eating or drinking. The harder the dog breathes, the greater the swelling and elongation of the soft palate.

Randomness

Eyechan Man, my international blog buddy, whose blog is a beautiful account of his experience of living in Japan, has tagged me to list eight (8) random things about myself.

1) I think I'm accident prone.....I keep falling and injuring my right ankle......and I don't even drink!

2) I may have adult onset attention deficit disorder. While at work, I keep sneaking into the blogosphere to read some every now and then and sometimes even do a post. Maybe that's addiction??? ;-)

3) I like to be tan in the summer, but don't like to lay in the sun. So I get spray tanned. (which is probably just as unhealthy as it is to lay in the sun). I sit under an umbrella at the beach with a hat on.

4) I used to trap shoot.

5) I can't eat a hamburger without a pickle.

6) I went to four different graduate schools before I got my degree.

7) I sleep with just my feet outside the covers. I don't like to have them covered.

8) My lil Snot dogs snores all night...and it doesn't bother me anymore ...;-) . Actually I find it soothing.

Ok, just send my ticket to the nut house and I'll be glad to veg out there for a few weeks....
and thanks Eyechan, for the tag.

Saturday Poem

On Walking

I hate being careful and such
I'm not that aware so much
That I've got a bad ankle
And I've got to be thankful
For things such as a crutch.

Don't know where that just came from....it just came out. Actually my ankle is much better, thanks for asking. I've got exercises to do (once again) to strenghten up the muscles and such. And as I stated above it really sucks to have to be careful. I don't like it. Gives me too much to do while I'm walking along....now I have to watch where I step, how I step, who I step on.....geeze.....I don't like it one bit. I'm not good at multitasking and walking. I can just about chew gum now as I walk and they want me to be careful on top of that? I just don't know how. Have you ever walked in NYC during rush hour? One has to be in defensive mode and be ready to push and shove and bang your briefcase into another's shoulder! I may as well just give up for crying out loud. Be careful? Ha!

Happy Saturday!

This Is All I Got Thursday.

You Would Be a Pet Monkey

Smart and unbridled, you are truly unpredictable... and a little crazy.
You're very playful and funny, but you're also moody and aggressive.
You're have the personality of a wild animal, which is both scary and entertaining.

Why you would make a great pet: You're very smart and you know how to charm people

Why you would make a bad pet: When you don't get your way, you're a bit of a monster

What you would love about being a monkey: Playing interesting games with humans

What you would hate about being a monkey: Not being quite smart enough to be a human!

Another Fairy Tale

(I'm posting this because I think it's funny, not to offend (hehe)

A FAIRY TALE

One day, long, long ago there was this man

who surprisingly, was not full of shit........

But this was a long time ago....and it was

just ONE day!!

THE END

A few other random thoughts for the day:

It takes 46 muscles to frown but only 4 to flip 'em the bird.

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.

If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?

Happy Monkey Monday!

Happy Monkey Monday!

I saw this picture and it transported me back to days long ago and far away. My brother had a sock monkey! His name was Jocko. Altho my brother was older than I, he sucked his thumb and had to go to bed with his 'sock monkey everynight, long past the age when I had given up all that stuff (hehe). (Actually. come to think of it, I was never a thumb sucker and don't recall having to go to bed with a stuffed animal. Oh no, did I have a deprived childhood? Should I bring this up in therepy? Oh, but I digress.) I made fun of him and his lil monkey. He'd get mad. I remember the monkey having a hard head! Someone must have placed a rubber or hard plastic face on this sock! ( I mean really, what decent sock monkey maker does that???). Well anyway the one other memory I have about all this is that my sweet, dear, older protective brother...used to hit me on the head with it every time I made fun of him! Damn.....ya think that's why I am the way I am today????? I have sock monkey brains!

Peace

Five things I'm grateful for today:
1). My brother (RIP)
2) Sock Monkeys
3) just plain ole socks for that matter
4) the ability to heal (my ankle, remember?)
5) Soothing music

Nuttin Honey/OHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO

I must say that doing nothing is not all it made out to be. I've been home for two days, hobbling around, trying to "chillax", keeping my foot up, being good. I should be writing fifty million blogs or so. I don't have the wherewithal to even do that. Doing nothing equates to feeling like doing more of nothing. So, like Seinfeld, this post is about "nothing".

Did nothing in the morning.....
Did nothing in the evening....
Doing nothing......all over the world.......
Ok enough.

Actually I have been doing something...watching old TV "stuff" on line....Does anyone remember Mr. Bill from Saturday Night Live? I used to love him, as sick as it was!!!! Take a look......ohhhhhhhhhhh nooooooooooooooooo.

It Started Out Nice....

It was a beautiful day. After all, it was Monkey Monday. The weekend weather was beautiful. I went to work in a great frame of mind. Who could ask for anything more? (Well I could, but why push my luck.) I bought my weekly bouquet of flowers on my walk from the train to the office. Folks were out walking their "city" dogs, picking up their poop. Doormen were washing down the sidewalks. Restaurants were getting their daily deliveries of fresh fish and vegetables.

I love this time in the morning.
I arrived at the office before anyone else. Got my coffee. Ate breakfast at my desk. Read the paper (ya don't think I was going to start working right away do you?). Off to a nice and easy start.

Colleagues start to arrive. I finish up my coffee. I get my vase to fill with water for my flowers and walk to the kitchen area. Note that I have changed shoes from my "walking shoes" to my "office shoes". Walking down the carpeted hallway, I cross the threshold onto the "shiny" clean tiled floor of the kitchen.

My shoe slips on the floor. The vase goes flying into the air. I go crashing to the floor, awaiting the vase to come with me. I cover myself right before the crash of the vase.......glass shatters all around me! I sit on the floor in front of the refrigerator, holding onto my ankle that I twisted! (for the fourth time this year!). Everyone runs out of their offices wondering what the noise was. (Mind you, people are very wary of loud noises here in NYC). They see me sitting on the floor with glass all around yelling "Fuck, fuck, fuck" and not in a good way!

They wrapped my ankle up and hauled me off to my Medical Dept. in a wheelchair!

(It's not broken, just a bad sprain).

Ah, the price of fashion.
Damn!

Happy Dance Friday!!! The music is still playing from last week! Use it again! ;-)

Ok guys, don't kill me....tis true tho...hehehe.

Once upon a time, a girl asked a guy , "Will you marry me?" The guy said "No" and the girl lived happily every after and went shopping, drank martinis with friends, always had a clean house, never had to cook, had a closet full of shoes and handbags, stayed skinny , and was never farted on.
The end.

How Was I Supposed to Know

Danielle tagged me to do a "How Was I Supposed to Know" theme meme.

I stole my brother's car keys off the table to go visit Mom who was in the hospital. Brother was sleeping off a hangover. I was 16. I never had a driving lesson in my life, but I did have a permit. So of course I could drive. I mean how hard could it be? I'd seen it done hundreds of times!

Off I went, driving along the straight boulevard, feeling so mature, listening to the radio.

HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW that I had to straighten out the steering wheel after I made a turn????????????????
Crash!

(I'll tell the rest of the story some day!)

Ghosts on the Mountain by A Lake

It sits upon a mountain somewhere in Idaho, waiting to greet you with it's ghostlike frame. How did it get here? Who would have brought it here? What happened to it?

Rumor has it that when the wind blows at night you can hear the children yelling to let them out of school. They don't want to go to school. They'd rather be fishing or frolicking in the meadow there on top of the mountain. Is it their spirits' we hear or is it only the wind? The story also goes that just about the time the sun sets you can actually see them! Trying to get your attention if you're close by. You may feel a featherlike tickle on your face and think its a dandelion flying by in the breeze. It's the children, wanting to be set free. What do you think is the story behind this ghost bus? Ghost bus.....one letter short of ghost bust...buster...busters!

Aha! That's where they came from or is it that's where they're going. I have no idea what I'm doing now......

The picture was actually taken last week by my blogging buddy

Meme Trois

Paul over at Shadow of Diogenes tagged me for the following three question meme, ergo the

Meme Trois (sounds kinda kinky, huh? ;-)
(Q1) What is your favorite kind of music ?

I would have to say classic rock is the music I listen to most. But my music also varies according to the mood I'm in and the location also effects it. For example, while travelling to work it's got to be hopping and loud and fast to get my blood going...but coming home I need a little more soothing music to calm my soul. I sometimes turn on classical music for that. When I'm putzing around the house or doing some cleaning I usually play show tunes and sing along with them. It makes me energetic and my singing usually keeps people away from me, far, far away...;-)
so I get more done!

(Q2) Who is the most beautiful woman or handsome man whom you have ever seen ?

Although this question seems really easy to answer, it isn't, for me. My defininition of beauty or handsomeness is most likely different than others. But I tried to think of someone who has outer beauty as well as charisma and just by looking at them makes me smile. It's not anyone in particular but I'm going to have to say that the most handsome man by my definition has a combination of a sexy smile, smiling eyes, strong body, dark hair, tall.
Liam Neissen (the actor) is an example of sexy and handsome to me as well as Michelangelo's "David" which a fine example of artistic beauty, except that I would have liked to see a larger, hmmmm, well you know).

(Q3) What is one thing that some people do that makes you boiling mad ?

It really bothers me when someone interupts me when I'm trying to say something. You know the kind. While you're talking, they start saying, oh yeah that happened to me and totally switch the conversation? Well what I do now, is totally ignore that the person has said anything and just give them the evil eye look, and continue to talk. Sometimes I raise my voice just a little and most of the time the other person shuts the hell up!!!!!!

Thanks Paul for the tag, and I'll tag all of you or none of you....if you feel like doing it.. (huh Ian, one more??? ;-)

PEACE

Better than a thousand hollow words is one word that brings peace.
Buddha (560-483 B.C.)
How about three words: Dona Nobis Paceam: Give Us Peace

Mimi comes through once again in gathering the people of the blogesphere to come together "peacefully" through our 'oneness' in posting our peace globes today. Let's hope the universe will get "it" and give it back to us in the form of "Peace On Earth".

Since I'm usually not much for a lot of words I will bow to Buddha's quote and wish you all one word "Peace".

The Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth

Never apologize for showing feeling. When you do so, you apologize for the truth.........Benjamin Disraeli

I am far from the philosopher, although I did love the subject while in school. I read a post today about the "truth", whether or not it will set you free. To tell the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, or not? "To thine own self be true"?
I find that it's my instinct that allows the truth to come spewing out of me all the time. Or maybe it was just my Catholic upbringing that scarred the truth out of me lest I burn in hell. What I'm trying to say is that I can't lie well. It shows immediately on my face. My friends used to tell me that they'd never want to do anything that requres telling a lie with me because my face just shines "guilty"!!! But yet there are those who don't think twice about telling an untruth. It come naturally to them.
But there are those occasions, in the post I just read says, that one should be tactful in order not to hurt someone. Tactful as in lying. That's what got me thinking. Should we tactfully lie in order not to be hurtful. Is that "being true to yourself"? I feel everytime I do lie there's a sort of karma that builds up and although I don't feel it right away, there is a "cosmic" price one has to pay in the future, in the form of mental anquish or something similar.
So yes, I am "tactlessly" truthful most of the time and yes, there are those occasions where the people around me do not appreciate it. But I've found through my own experience that in order to feel good on the inside, one must sometimes be bad on the outside. Does that make any sense???

What do you do?

World Records

(The picture has absolutely nothing to do with the post. I just kinda liked it!)
Guinness Book Of World Records

Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, and Quasimodo were all talking one day.

Sleeping Beauty said, "I believe myself to be the most beautiful girl in the world."

Tom Thumb said, "I must be the smallest person in the world."

Quasimodo said, "I absolutely have to be the most tacky, rude, crude, gross & disgusting person in the world."

So they all decided to go to the Guinness Book of World Records to have their claims verified.

Sleeping Beauty went in first and came out looking deliriously happy.

"It's official; I AM the most beautiful girl in the world."

Tom Thumb went next and emerged triumphant, "I am now officially the smallest person in the world."

Sometime later, Quasimodo comes out looking utterly confused and says,
"Who the heck is Rosie O'Donnell? "
