Spicy Coffee and 11 Layers

Who put the cayenne pepper right next to the cinnamon in the cabinet? That'd be me, unless my lil Snot dog grew hands and suddenly felt the urge to rearrange my spice cabinet, but I digress.
Woke up this morning, feeling fine (oh that's a song!) and sleepily worked my way into the kitchen to make myself a pot of coffee. I always sprinkle cinnamon into the grounds before I make it. I reached up into the cabinet and see it...then sprinkle.....coffee done....ahhhhh yes!

A Commute From Hell

I was looking forward to another fine day at work on Wednesday. The forecast was for rain.

I woke up to thunder, lightening and rain of biblical proportion. I listened as the weather forecaster called for a tornado warning until 7AM. Tried to walk the Snot dog, operative word - TRIED! Well he can just hold in it then!!! Geeze.

My drive to the parking lot where I take my train usually takes 20 minutes. Yesterday it took three hours! There were flash floods all over the place. Cars were stuck in standing water...I got stuck on an off ramp and had to sit and wait for about an hour and and half until the water receeded. I had no choice. There were five cars already stuck there!
When I finally got to the parking lot, I learned that all trains to NYC were cancelled. Mind you it's 90 degrees out with about 95 percent humidity. Every one was soaked from the rain and then the heat. Odorific!!!! And their usually pleasant commuting personalities turned a wee bit more nasty, leaning more towards homicidal rage!

To top it all off, that tornado really did touch down, in Brooklyn! The first one EVER there. This is not Kansas people..this is New York City!!!!

I gave up going into the city and took a shuttle to one our company's other offices and worked there all day............I should have stayed home! I mean after traveling for such a long time I at least expected to be at a nice vacation spot...right?
So how was your day???????

See how evil you really are!!!

How evil are you?

10 Lies My Mom Told Me

Patti tagged me for the meme that's making it's way around the blogosphere...

Ten (10) Lies My Mother Told Me

1) Eat all your vegetables, it'll make your hair curly. (This one I never understood even as a lil one, because my hair was already curly, so I always asked what should I eat to make it straight.)

2) If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all. (I knew this was a lie after I heard my parents curse the neighbors out, curse at the TV, yell at someone on the phone etc.)

3) If you lie, your tongue will turn black. (this one had me scarred for a while...I always checked my tongue in the mirror before I went to bed).

4) Don't play so rough, you'll poke somebody's eye out....(and to paraphrase George Carlin, have you ever poked anyone's eye out, nonetheless seen anyone with their eye poked out as a result of just "playing" ?)

5) If you swallow your gum, your insides will stick together.

6) Wait an hour after eating before you swim, or you'll get cramps and drown.

7) If you're not good, we'll have to send you to the "Bad Girls" Home. (This scarred me! )

8) If you waste paper, you won't go to heaven. (I have no idea where this came from, but I believed it so much so that even today I'll use both sides of the paper. My friends make fun of me when I do this while playing Pictionary!)

9) Wear a hat or you'll catch your death......

10) You're not going anywhere until you clean your plate. (I went, I saw, and I conquered!)

I'm taggin Oger the Caveman and Boondoggled.

Ahhhhh Spot

Where I find serenity.
(The most southern tip of NY).

When I can't make it to the beach I come here to sit and ponder...ponder and sit....sometimes I read or take a walk thru the woods...It has everything I need to find peace within. Big old trees, secretative paths, water....

Where do you find your serenity?

Monkey Monday!!!

Happy Monkey Monday!

I went on a little sight seeing trip this weekend. Actually it was only a few blocks away from my house. It's a Revolutionary War House. One of the many where George Washington slept..hehe. I took some pics of it and the surrounding landscape with my new camera (which I will show you a little later this week). But that's not what I really want to say here...although I just did..but hey, ok, so I did!

In order to download the pics from the picture card on my camera I'm to insert the card into a little card holder first that fits my computer because the card itself doesn't fit. I forgot that! In my eager excitement (obsessiveness) I took the card from the camera and put it into the slot in my laptop. That's the moment I remembered it's supposed to go into the holder first! Damn, damn, and damn! It's like when a VCR tape used to get stuck in your VCR, only this was 100 times smaller! Damn! I didn't have a little tiny screwdriver to get it out!! I tried tweezers, pins, banging it on it's side! I thought to myself "I'm not taking this into the store to get this out, this is crazy!!!! I felt so stupid! Damn again! In desperation I pushed the card "holder' into the slot and it caught onto it and came out! What a fool am I...., I sang all night. And no, I didn't break my laptop nor the picture card! Lucky again!!!

I need someone to watch over me!!! Damn!

If I Only Had a Brain and something to blog about

Happy Thursday (is it really Thursday already?) Yeah I guess it is! Ut oh...I gotta get some things done at work by tomorrow!!! Damn, my work sure interferes with all the other good "stuff" I like to do! ;-)

I have a new digital camera...It's really neat. I'm carrying it with me now in case I see a good pic to portray here...But ...I forgot that the battery needs to be recharged every now and then and it takes a good 3 hours to do that.

So my trek out onto the streets of NYC produced nothing yesterday, nada, squat....and I was really excited about capturing an "only in New York" moment! I went out to "on the streets", and that's where I saw him, handing out brochures, covered in tatoos with piercings all over his face.....oh well, next time.

In the meantime I got nothing!....It's been that sort of week. I hate everything kinda week. Not anyone who reads my blog, mind you, but everyone else...hehe.

Hey Abbot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who's On First????????????????

You have to be old enough to remember Abbott and Costello, and too old to REALLY understand computers, to fully appreciate this. For those of us who sometimes get flustered by our computers, please read on...
If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, "Who's on First?" might have turned out something like this:
COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: Thanks. I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou.
ABBOTT: Your computer?
COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: I told you, my name's Lou.
ABBOTT: What about Windows?
COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?
ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows?
COSTELLO: I don't know. What will I see when I look at the windows?
ABBOTT: Wallpaper.
COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.
ABBOTT: Software for Windows?
COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. What do you have?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO:! Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?
ABBOTT: I just did.
COSTELLO: You just did what?
ABBOTT: Recommend something.
COSTELLO: You recommended something?
ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: For my office?
ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!
ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows.
COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows! OK, let's just say I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need?
ABBOTT: Word.
COSTELLO: What word?
ABBOTT: Word in Office.
COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.
ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.
COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows?
ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue "W".
COSTELLO: I'm going to click your blue "w" if you don't start with some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my money with?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: That's right. What do you have?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: I need money to track my money?
ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer.
COSTELLO: What's bundled with my computer?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer?
ABBOTT: Yes. No extra charge
COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?
ABBOTT: One copy.
COSTELLO: Isn't it illegal to copy money?
ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.
COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money?
ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT!
(A few days later)ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off?
ABBOTT: Click on "START".............

Happy Monkey Monday

HAPPY MONKEY MONDAY!

It was a hot and stormy weekend.........

The fog rolled in.
My hair got wet.
My dog panted.
I didn't.

The fog rolled out.
My eyes could see
My dog still panted.
I drank.

The humidity stayed.
My hair all frizzed.
My dog panted
I swam.

The thunder came
I ran home
My dog panted
I ate ice cream.

The End.

Hope y'all had a great weekend ;-).

Saturday Sillies

If you want someone who will eat whatever you put in front of him and never says its not quite as good as his mother made it
then buy a dog.

If you want someone always willing to go out, at any hour, for as long and wherever you want , then buy a dog.

If you want someone who will never touch the remote, doesn't care about football, and can sit next to you as you watch romantic movies then buy a dog.

If you want someone who is content to get up on your bed just to warm your feet and whom you can push off if he snores ..... then buy a dog.

If you want someone who never criticizes what you do, doesn't care if you are pretty or ugly, fat or thin, young or old, who acts as if every word you say is especially worthy of listening to, and loves you unconditionally, no matter what then buy a dog.

But, on the other hand, if you want someone who will never come when you call, ignores you totally when you come home, leaves hair all over the place, walks all over you, runs around all night and only comes home to eat and sleep, and acts as if your entire existence is solely to ensure his happiness

then buy a cat!

Now be honest, you thought I was going to say....then marry a man.

Freezer Bags and such

I stole this from Danielle

You might not have known this, but a lot of non-living objects are actually either male or female.

Here are some examples:

FREEZER BAGS: They are male, because they hold everything in, but you can see right through them.

PHOTOCOPIERS: These are female, because once turned off, it takes a while to warm them up again. They are an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but can also wreak havoc if you push the wrong buttons.

TIRES: Tires are male, because they go bald easily and are often over inflated.

HOT AIR BALLOONS: Also a male object, because to get them to go anywhere, you have to light a fire under their arse

SPONGES: These are female, because they are soft, squeezable and retain water.

WEB PAGES: Female, because they're constantly being looked at and frequently getting hit on.

TRAINS: Definitely male, because they always use the same old lines for picking up people.

EGG TIMERS: Egg timers are female because, over time, all the weight shiifts to
the bottom.

HAMMERS: Male, because in the last 5000 years, they've hardly changed at all, and are occasionally handy to have around.

THE REMOTE CONTROL: Female. Ha! You probably thought it would be male, but consider this: It easily gives a man pleasure, he'd be lost without it, and while he doesn't always know which buttons to push, he just keeps trying...........

Schmooze Time

Schmoozing as defined by Dictonary.com as the ability “to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.” When it comes to blogging, schmoozing is your ticket to making new friends, getting yourself noticed and building a reputation.

Schmooze is also a very nice word to just pronounce....S C H M O O Z E, go ahead, say it! See!

There's also lots of words that rhyme with it which makes it very versitile. I'll spare you a poem right now, but I intend to write one some day...hehe.

I believe we all love to shmooze here in the blogosphere...so here's to schmoozing!

Apparently I "schmooze"! Loving Annie seems to think so because she has lovingly bestowed the ole "Schmoozer Award" on me.
Okay folks, here are the Schmooze rules:

1. If, and only if, you get The Power of Schmooze Award, write a post with links to 5 blogs that have schmoozed you into submission.

Five of the best Schmoozers I know and I know lots of smoozers, for sure......

Roger-Oger the Cave Man - He makes me laugh
Deb-Boondoggled - My blog idol.
CEO - just because.
Lala - Young and in love.
Maria(Laugh More, Love More), sweet and intense

Interview Meme

Interview Meme

Mike (the evil one) sent me these five interview questions that I so (stupidly?) asked to answer. He made them up and now I must keep my end of the bargain and answer them. So here goes.

1) If for one day you could be someone else, who would that be and why?

Although I really don't mind being myself, if I must chose someone it would be Cleopatra, because she basically had the world at her feet, was far ahead of her time too. She had "guys" feeding her grapes and fanning her and carrying her around, not to mention the power she weilded over that part of the world and her great love affairs with Julius Caesar and Marc Anthony. (I would pass on the asp.)

2) If you could have any job in the world, what would it be and why?

I can only say that it would most likely involve making children smile and laugh...which is one of life's great moments.

3) If you found out the world was going to end in 24 hours, what would you do?

I would keep it simple. Since I wouldn't have time enough to get to Tahiti, I'd get my ass to the nearest marina, steal a very large boat or yacht, gather my family and friends and take it out in the ocean and just watch the sea and the sky....remembering the two things that give me the most peace.

4) Given George Bush, Rosie O'Donnell and Al Sharpton, who would you fuck, marry and kill?
And explain why? (this is the question that makes me think mike is a very evil person)
(I'm only answering this becasue it was asked. Make it publically known that I disassociate myself with any and all feelings about this question or these people.)

a) I would fuck with Al Sharpton's mind., cause he's done it enough to everyone else. (I'm not going to fuck any of these people literally, thank you very much!)

b) I would marry George Bush (gagging as I write this) but it would only be because I need a bigger closet and more living space (and of course, this marriage WOULD NOT be consumated)

c) I would kill Rosie O'Donnell, well just because.

5) If you could spend one hot and romantic night with anyone on earth, who would it be?

Liam Neissen!!! I find him to be really sexy and attractive, not to mention he's a great charactor actor, has a great strong voice and body. I've seen him in every play he's done and my friends had to tie me down so I wouldn't storm the stage.

If you would like to do this meme.....leave me a comment saying "Interview me".
I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
Thank you Mike! :-)

Happy Monkey Monday/Milkman Review

Happy Monkey Monday!

Ian ,over at E Dog's Blog who actually gave me the idea for Monkey Monday, has had a book published recently! See it up there? (not the monkey, the book!). Well....Ian has a fantastic imagination and a wonderful creative sense as evidenced not only by his writings but by his web comic http://ianthealy.comicgenesis.com/ "Adventures of the S Team", consisting of scenes made by Ian out of leggos....It's really rather funny!

I just finished reading his book. Mind you, I'm not the biggest fan of science fiction books. I do like watching sci-fi flicks, and if I had a choice between the two I'd chose the movie.

However, since I've been reading Ian's blog and read one of his other stories he wrote in the Novel Writing Month competition, I was eager to read The Milkman. I mean who else knows a real life published author???

I loved the book...yes, this non sci-fi reader, actually loved it. It had me hooked in the first two pages. The story flowed easily and I couldn't wait to see what happened with the two main charactors along with the rest of the crazy crew. In spite of the fact that it's touted as science fiction, it's the funniest sci-fi i've ever read. His comedy shines through as he writes the story and shows how the aliens intend to take over the earth....and explains how all those nasty rumors about aliens came to be. It was up-beat, funny, romantic (yes), and down right silly that I actually laughed out loud on the train when I was reading it.

Well done Ian!! I highly recommend that you read it....Go visit Ian and get to know him and his blogs and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Pop Up Thoughts

Dad gave me his curly hair
I fought most of my life to make it straight
Today I appreciate it, as I do my name.

Why do we, as young adults and children always rebel,
when as we grow older we know what our parents said was right all along.

Oh if only I knew then, what I know now.

Hey Hey

Ok....I tried really hard to stay away from here...but it was calling me back...... I've been really busy at work lately and I didn't want this blog to feel like work, ergo the lil break. I wish I could say I went to Tahiti or some equally exotic location, but no, I was only putting my priorities in order (for a change). I don't know what came over me. I'll make sure that doesn't happen again!
I'll be back visiting you all in a bit....in the meantime here something to make you smile:

I had a car accident at an intersection. The driver got out of the other car . . . he was a DWARF!! He was really ticked off! He looked up at me and said, "I am NOT happy!" I said, "Okay, then which one are you?"
