Starting My Day

I love how the world feels...
On my early morning walks.
Birds say hello
While the world sleeps..
On my early morning walks.

Moist grass tickles my toes..
The moon smiles..
On my early morning walks.

Street lights wink at me...
Newspapers fly out of cars..
On my early morning walks.

My coffee is waiting,
The aroma at the door
After my early morning walks.

Ready to face the day now..
Quiet time has ended...
Thank you for my early morning walks.

Joke Time

Dusty Underwear

One evening a husband, thinking he was being funny, said to his wife; Perhaps we should start washing your clothes in Slim Fast. Maybe it would take a few inches off of your butt!!' His wife was not amused, and decided that she simply couldn't let such a comment go unrewarded. The next morning the husband took a pair of underwear out of his drawer. 'What the Hell is this??' he said to himself as a little 'dust' cloud appeared when he shook them out. 'April,' he hollered into the bathroom, 'Why did you put talcum powder in my underwear?' She replied with a snicker... 'It's not talcum powder..... It's 'Miracle Grow'.'

Illusion

Stop eluding me!!!
You teased me once and I loved it.
I want to feel that chill,
It's like my drug.

Stop making me sweat!
That's all over now, go away.
I want to feel the breezes,
Come throught my window.

Fall, Fall, where did you go?
Come back to me.
I'm begging you....
Please???? I need you!

Never Forget

SIGN IN A STORE WINDOW:

"WE WOULD RATHER DO BUSINESS WITH 1000 ALQAEDA TERRORISTS THAN WITH ONE SINGLE AMERICAN"

This sign was prominently displayed in the window of a business in Philadelphia . You are probably outraged at the thought of such an inflammatory statement. However, We are a society which holds Freedom of Speech as perhaps our greatest liberty. And after all, it is just a sign. You may ask what kind of business would dare post such a sign.

Answer: A Funeral Home

(Who said morticians had no sense of humor?)

You gotta love it!!! God Bless America

I Need Food Now

Emerging from the covers that surrounded her
She peeks out at the world again.
Seeing, feeling, knowing that it's gone now.

She's kicked this monster's ass for good now,
She knows that now (we think).
She happy dances like there's no tomorrow.

Dogs and Belly Buttons

Do dogs have belly buttons and if the dog gets shaved should they get them pierced?

No, this is not a delusion I had when my fever was 103, it was a subject of an actual conversation I had with a "friend". It started out by her telling me that she was getting her dog shaved. I pictured the poor thing bald and thought maybe he should have some piercings to go with his hairless look, so to be more "in" and stuff. This led to the question of dogs having belly buttons at all. When you think about it, they should, shouldn't they? But when I looked at little Snot dog's belly, no belly button there. But they do have them! They apparently stitch up the umbilical cord "button hole" on dogs right after they're born and if you look close enough you can see a little scar there. (I wonder why they don't do that on humans. Wouldn't we all look better?)

Perhaps a tatoo then!

Dogs Versus Cats

DOG'S DIARY
7 am - Oh boy! A walk! My favorite!
8 am - Oh boy! Dog food! My favorite!
9 am - Oh boy! The kids! My favorite!
Noon - Oh boy! The yard! My favorite!
2 pm - Oh boy! A car ride! My favorite!
3 pm - Oh boy! The kids! My favorite!
4 pm - Oh boy! Playing ball! My favorite!
6 pm - Oh boy! Welcome home Mum! My favorite!
7 pm - Oh boy! Welcome home Dad! My favorite!
8 pm - Oh boy! Dog food! My favorite!
9 pm - Oh boy! Tummy rubs on the couch! My favorite!
11pm - Oh boy! Sleeping in my people's bed! My favorite!

CAT'S DIARY
Day 483 of my captivity...
My captors continued to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal.
The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction that I get from clawing their furniture.
Tomorrow I will eat another houseplant.
Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded - must try this at the top of the stairs.
In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair. I must remember to try this on their bed.
Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear in their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was. Hmmm, that did not work according to plan...
There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. More importantly, I overheard that my confinement was due to my powers of inducing "allergies." I must learn what this is and how I may use it to my advantage.
I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit.
The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an informant and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured.
But I have patience, I can wait

Thursday Thoughts

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.-Carl Bard

I saw that quote yesterday in a one of the newspapers here and it caught my attention. It's not a new concept to me at all... after all I try to start each day as if it's a new beginning. But I needed that reminder, especially this past week. 9/11 tore my essence apart, as I'm sure it did to everyone in this country. It seemed my life was torn in pieces and even though it's put back together, the pieces are not in the same place as they were before. I looked at life in a completely new way from that point on. I made lots of changes because in order to move on they became necessary. Some were good, some not so good. I started over and am trying to make a brand new ending. I don't know what that will be. The new road I've embarked upon is scarey, yet exciting at the same time. I just put one foot in front of the other and go forward. The journey has been a hard one but I'm still moving and enjoying the scenery, which is a good feeling.

I have no idea what I'm trying to convey here but it's what came out of me today. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't want to get stuck in the past, but at the same time I can't forget it. I just can't let it rule my life. So,I greet one day at a time,(ODAT) and make the best I can out of it!
Thanks for listening. :-)

Happy Monkey Monday.

Happy Monkey Monday!

Start the week laughing!

I thought the following would be appropriate for Monkey Monday:

My New Lincoln

I bought a new Lincoln MKX and returned to the dealer the next day because I couldn't get the radio to work. The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated.
"Nelson," the salesman said to the radio. The Radio replied, "Ricky or Willie?" "Willie!" he continued and "On The Road Again" came from the speakers. Then he said, "Ray Charles!", and in an instant "Georgia On My Mind" replaced Willie Nelson.

I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, "Beethoven," I'd get beautiful classical music, and if I said, "Beatles," I'd get one of their awesome songs.
Yesterday, a couple ran a red light and nearly creamed my new car, but I swerved in time to avoid them. I yelled, "Ass Holes!" Immediately the French National Anthem began to play, sung by Jane Fonda and Barbara Streisand, backed up by Michael Moore and The Dixie Chicks, with John Kerry on guitar, Al Gore on drums, Dan Rather on harmonica, Nancy Pelosi on tambourine, Harry Reid on spoons, Bill Clinton on sax and Ted Kennedy on scotch.
Damn , I LOVE this car!

You Are a Boston Terrier Puppy

Aggressive, wild, and rambunctious.

What Your Underwear Says About You

You enjoy wearing nice underwear, even if it comes at a hefty price tag.

So Long Summer

Anticipating the cool nights of Fall
When chilly nights wrap around our bodies
And force us to use blankets
And open windows.

Seeing summer slip away once again,
Tucking in the early morning sun
Until a later hour.
But the windows are open!

Allowing the new season
To wash over us
Clearing the cobwebs of heat,
So long Summer,
Thank you Fall.

And free hugs to Mike for being so nice too for giving me this:

Both of them are stars and nice too!!! It's a pleasure to have such great blog buddies....Thank you both! ;-)

And to leave you laughing, some puns to ponder:

- Two cannibals are eating a clown. One says to the other: "Does this taste funny to you?"

- A dyslexic man walks into a bra.

- I went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn't find any.

- Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was excellent.

Computer Virus

VIRUS WARNING!!!
=================

If you receive an email entitled "Bedtimes," delete it
IMMEDIATELY!

Do not open it.

Apparently this one is a pretty nasty computer virus.

It will not only erase everything on your hard drive, but it
will also delete anything on disks within 20 feet of your
computer.

It demagnetizes the strips on ALL of your credit cards.

It reprograms your ATM access code, messes up the tracking on
your VCR, and uses subspace field harmonics to scratch any CD's
you attempt to play.

It will program your phone's auto dial to call only 1-900 numbers.

This virus will mix antifreeze into your fish tank.

IT WILL CAUSE YOUR TOILET TO FLUSH WHILE YOU ARE SHOWERING.

It will drink ALL your soda.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, ARE YOU LISTENING?

It will leave dirty underwear on the coffee table when you are
expecting company.

It will replace your shampoo with Nair and your Nair with
Rogaine.

If the "Bedtimes" message opens in a Windows 95/98/XP
environment, it will leave the toilet seat up and leave your
hair dryer plugged in dangerously close to tags from your
mattresses and pillows. It will also re-fill your skim milk with
whole milk.

WARN AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN!!!

You've got to warn as many people as you can or you'll
pass gas so hard that your right leg will spasm and shoot
straight out in front of you, sending sparks that will ignite
the person nearest you.
Good Luck!
;-)

Reason/Season

For some reason I feel the need to post this again...I think I did once before but...I'm not really sure....hmmmm....
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.

They may seem like a godsend and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson,
love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life,
whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime

Hoarse Spud

This is the Snot Dog, live, (well not really live, but moving and talking) to say hey to all my blog buddies. I was testing his bark about two weeks after his palate and nose surgery. If I ask him who's there?, he starts barking. I'm such a taunt. But I had to see if he was getting better. He was a little hoarse (haha) dog for a while. He's fine now, barking normally, for a snot dog, and he's not snorting like a large pig anymore. I miss it tho! ;-)

HAPPY MONKEY MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY MONKEY MONDAY

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend...it got really hot here again this weekend. Went from the 50's last week to up in the 90's and humid!!! I didn't get a chance to get to the beach but stayed in the A/C most of the time!

A Little Monkey Humor

A woman got on a bus holding a baby. The bus driver said, "That's the ugliest baby I've ever seen!"

In a huff, the woman slammed her fare into the fare box and took an aisle seat near the rear of the bus. The man seated next to her sensed that she was agitated and asked her what was wrong. "The bus driver insulted me," she fumed.

The man sympathized with her and said, "Why, he's a public servant and shouldn't say things to insult passengers."

"You're right," she said. "I think I'll go back up there and give him a piece of my mind."

"That's a good idea," the man said. "Here, let me hold your monkey."

Books....Oh My!!!

Take the quiz and see what book you are!!!

Oh my, I think mine is a little off...lol..what do you think??????? ;-)

You're Lolita!
by Vladimir Nabokov
Considered by most to be depraved and immoral, you are obsessed with
sex. What really tantalizes you is that which deviates from societal standards in every
way, though you admit that this probably isn't the best and you're not sure what causes
this desire. Nonetheless, you've done some pretty nefarious things in your life, and
probably gotten caught for them. The names have been changed, but the problems are real.
Please stay away from children.

Silver Thingy Award

Sweet Sarge Charlie was oh so kind and awarded me this silver thingy saying: " she is always doing fun things, sometimes she just makes a monkey of herself, and when you enter a contest she gives you an award even when you are just a loser." Now isn't that sweet?

Thanks so much! And just so you all know, the sweet Sarge does a warm up on Thursdays for my Happy Dance Fridays, go on over and see what's in store for today. Yeah I know it all sounds sooo silly, but it's so much fun...So laugh, just for the hell of it!.

I've been "ordered" by the Sergeant (saluting now), to pass this along to two more blog buddies.

I hereby bestow this award to HeartinSanfrancisco because of all the reasons I mentioned in yesterday's post and her blog is definitely worth the trip to San Francisco. You won't be sorry.

AND TO

Michael , over at the Wonderful World of Nothing Worthwhile (and another Californian! hmm), certainly deserves the silver thingy too. He's my bestest blog buddy and has a wonderful and wacky sense of humor, not to mention he's funny too...Go visit, espcially on Tuesdays, where he answers questions on any topic! (except mine ;-( (but that's another story!)

So there you have it, the Silver Thingy Awards!

A little something before you leave (this has nothing to do with the above awards...it just made me laugh). I can't help it, it's my sick sense of humor coming out.

10 Things I Like About Myself

HeartinSanFran tagged me for the "10 Things Meme" to list 10 things I like about myself.
Heart did her list with charm, intelligence, caring and humor that she usually portrays in her blogs. She's a terrific writer and I love reading her because she takes you right there when she does and is so "heart"felt. I thank her for enriching my life with her stories and wit.

In tagging me with this meme, she said about me.. "I love her sense of fun and her quirky charm which brightens the blogosphere for so many. " Wow...I do? I have absolutely no idea what I do here and my intent in doing it is just to have some fun, so her words mean an awful lot to me and I thank her for that.

So, here's a list of 10 things I like about myself:

1) My sense of humor and fun. It gets me through a lot and often gets me in trouble. But I'm at a point in my life that it doesn't matter! And that's a great feeling!

2) My curly hair. It's about time! I mean I've had it all my life and did everything I could to straighten it, but now, I've accepted it, (maybe cause I got it from Dad :-) I've grown it long and just love the way it looks.

3) My sense of fashion, althought I'm sure there are those who don't feel the same..hehe.
I like funky things, colorful things, big jewelry, wild shoes.... and altho I work in a very conservative office I still dress funky in spite of it. (I even got my first tatoo just last summer).

4) I've had the opportunity to be blessed with a Mom who did her best with my brother and I and I now have the opportunity to serve her in her last days here. She's has alzheimers and is in a nursing home now. But I go there every chance I get and sit with her and make her laugh and smile. I like that.

5) I've been independent most of my life.
My stubborness has gotten in the way of having people help me when I needed it though. I've always been one to learn how to do "things" in order not to ask for help. I like learning new things, however, there are times when help is needed and at this point in my life I don't hestitate to ask for help. ( Help me pllleeeaassseeeee!)

6) I'm a good cook. I love to cook, although I don't make so much time for it today. My dream is to someday have a great big kitchen in order to do this a lot more often. My Mom was a great cook and made meals that could feed an army. She was always giving away food to all the neighbors...I remember telling her that she made too much all the time. Guess who does the same thing today????? Know any armies that need a cook?

7) My accomplishments (way too many to list here, hehe). I worked hard to get where I am today, against all odds and in spite of myself.

8) My intuition. I have this uncanny ability to just know things. But sometimes I'm just afraid to follow it's path, unfortunately for me.

9) I don't have any regrets. I've always told people that if I had my life to live all over again, I'd do it exactly the way I've done it...I like myself today and I wouldn't be this way had I done things differently.

10) Seeing the world without "rose colored glasses". In the past, I used drugs and alchohol to block out reality. Now I use my sense of wonder and curiousity to bring it back......and it's a wonderful feeling.
Thank you Heart for allowing me to take a look/see into me again....I must do this every once in a while to take stock and to see just how far I've come, or not!

If you want to do this 10 Things You Like About Yourself, please do....I recommend it.

Repost - Gratitude 101

A fellow blogger recently posted her 100 things she was grateful for. It served to remind me that I used to do a gratitude list every night before I went to sleep, listing only five things on it. It seems that the words “used to” show up in my life a lot lately. Seems I may have forgotten about the present moment and spontaneity. I’ve got to move beyond this “stuck” point in my life….(maybe tomorrow) lol……

In the meantime, my gratitude list, 100 things randomly plucked out of my brain as I type along (I’m not going to number them given that I like the randomness of it all): a new day, Mom, coffee, good friends, music (all kinds depending on my mood of the moment, my years spent with hub(good and bad because it added to my essence), my sick sense of humor (it gets me thru the rough times), a good book (the kind again depends on my mood), did I mention coffee?, shower massages!!! ;-) , clean sheets, my job and the oh so nice people I work with, good and lasting friendships, meeting new people and fellow bloggers, on time train schedules, green lights, bright colors, new shoes, new clothes, old jeans and tee shirts, the peace and serenity that hit me maybe twice a year, smiles, kids laughing, the unconditional love of my lil dog, comfortable chairs, memories of Dad, the ability to write this list on this blog with these fingers and this computer, seeing laughter on people’s faces and their eyes lighting up because I’m there and vice versa, cooking, eating out, bbq, the ocean, the mountains, staying in bed on rainy or snowy days, having a bed to stay in, the color purple, the smell of lavender, working in a very nice part of NYC, my funky jewelry, a/c, sleep, ability to exercise, not drinking or smoking anymore, heat in winter, vacations, sunshine, love, moonlight coming thru my bedroom window, sex, makeup, makeup sex, razors, scented candles, dirt roads, snow, shovels, mittens, Seinfeld (speaking of makeup sex), funny movies, computer games, microwave ovens, pedicures, spray on tan, ice cubes, umbrellas, all stores, the ability to have money to purchase things in stores, my mom’s sense of humor (I think she gave me some), my dad’s smile and curly hair, paper clips, Velcro! , delete buttons, fresh mozzarella (orgasmic), sun glasses, cell phone covers with lil straps, light weight brief cases, shit, anything that’s light and lets me ease up on what I have to carry, my hairdresser, body lotion, linen spray, body paint, men, did I mention coffee? And sex? (Why does my mind always come back to coffee and sex?) which leads to my next grateful thing – therapists…lol, big windows, wild curtains, comfy slippers, matching underwear, comfortable bras, raincoats, baseball caps, beach towels, falling leaves, big old trees, butterflies, perfume, vanilla ice cream and the fact that I’m still breathing and appreciating what I have, what I am, and what I can become………”Live well, laugh often, love much”…..

Little Timmie grew up but after all those adventures and tv series, he couldn't face the truth that Lassie went to the dogpound in the sky and so he had her stuffed.

Dreams Interupted

That sound, in the distance, so far far away....
My mind in a dream state, dancing on clouds....
I come up for air, through the river of my dreams
And shut off the fucking alarm clock!

Dont' forget, tomorrow the winner of the famous, one and only, ODAT AWARD, will be announced! You have until 5PM EST today to submit your captions! Good Luck. The panel of judges is having a very difficult time trying to pick just one.

NY Minute Contest Time

My twinhead (you remember her,the one I look just like from the back and whose wedding shoes were first showcased in this blog and whose wedding I went up to Boston for and had a wonderful time, and whose wedding cake is right here for all to sample, especially Miss Bee)found this lil pooch just sitting outside a Brooklyn brownstone, all alone....looking, waiting...for what? for who? and why?

Here's the deal: Write a caption for this picture. The "panel" of judges ( that would be me and my lil Snot dog) will pick the most humorous one.

The winner will receive the one and only ODAT NYC MINUTE AWARD for excellence and will be announced on Happy Dance Friday.
