Love Letters

THESE ARE ENTRIES TO A WASHINGTON POST COMPETITION ASKING
FOR A TWO-LINE RHYME WITH THE MOST ROMANTIC FIRST LINE,
BUT THE LEAST ROMANTIC SECOND LINE:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My darling, my lover, my beautiful wife:
Marrying you screwed up my life.

I see your face when I am dreaming.
That's why I always wake up screaming.

Kind, intelligent, loving and hot;
This describes everything you are not.

Love may be beautiful, love may be bliss,
But I only slept with you because I was pissed.

I thought that I could love no other --
that is until I met your brother.

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty and so is your head.

I want to feel your sweet embrace;
But don't take that paper bag off your face.

I love your smile, your face, and your eyes ......
Damn, I'm good at telling lies!

My love, you take my breath away.
What have you stepped in to smell this way?

My feelings for you no words can tell,
Except for maybe "Go to hell."

What inspired this amorous rhyme?
Two parts vodka, one part lime.

Peace

Just Some Thoughts

In the world of the unexpected there is no preparation.
No time to get ready.
It jolts one out of the mundane and into action.
Not the kind of action I expected,
but an awakening to a nightmare, not from one.
Loving memories will sustain and heal me.
It'll be a long road, but one I'm willing and must walk.

Hi Everyone...

Just to let you know I'm putting one foot in front of the other and going forward....despite the fact that my feet are like lead....but I'm moving in the right direction. I'm taking it slowly, yet getting through the dreaded paper work that goes with all this, whatever "this" is.

I've never felt this way before. Lost. But the light is just ahead and I know I'll find my way, just don't know when I'll get there. You're well wishes are like life boats to me.....Hugss to all of you!

Hi

I'm still feeling the love and the hugs and the prayers. You're my angels!

Just dropping in with a little update.....I'm doing ok.....but my emotions are on a roller coaster....I never know when it'll hit me. I bawl my eyes out every time I read a comment here....but I love it....it's so heartwarming. I'm going to pop in every now and then and say a little something. I want to write about my feelings to get them out and lessen them to some extent and I'm going to start reading you guys again. I need to laugh.

I've got a lot of business to take care of as a result of hub's passing, but I'm getting thru it...I've got a great support system of real and cyber friends to help me and love me through it.

I miss him. ;-(
and one day I'll write the whole story....it's in me but my heart is hurting too much to do it right now.

Love all of you.

Thank You ;-)

"Tears water the soul."
Words can never express the heartfelt comfort that all of you have given me. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. I just cannot believe the "cyber love" in here! It is truly amazing. Your friendship, kind wishes and hugs is a gift to cherish and I thank you for that.
"God gives us comfort in the form of friends...."
GREAT BIG (((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))TO ALL!

Odat

Hi everyone.

This is Deb (from Boondoggled). Odat asked me to log in and let everyone know what is going on. Her husband passed away last night. She is okay, dealing with everything as best she can, and will be back when things settle down a little.

She is reading all the comments everyone leaves for her. Your well wishes do her good.

Thanks,
Deb

Winter Blues

The winter blues are sweeping over me,
An invisible web of incarceration
Waiting to break free into the sunlight.

I get this way every year, I believe I suffer from S.A.D. , seasonal affective disorder, the lack of sunlight in the days. I know it's getting lighter each day now and I have hope!!! Yes, I'll wake up and the sun will soon be out when I walk my lil snot dog! Smiles will return to my face upon waking up! I will sing again in the shower! I'll dance my way to work! Oh, I just can't wait. You do believe me, don't you?

Joke Day

THE BEST COMEBACK LINE for 2007...

For those that don't know him, Major General Peter Cosgrove is an "Australian treasure!"
General Cosgrove was interviewed on the radio recently. You'll love his reply to the lady who
interviewed him concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about gun laws
you gotta love this! This is one of the best comeback l ines of all time. It is a portion of an ABC interview between a female broadcaster and General Cosgrove who was about to sponsor a
Boy Scout Troop visiting his military headquarters.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
So, General Cosgrove, what things are you go ing to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

GENERAL COSGROVE:
We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?

GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rif le range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL COSGROVE:
Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

The radio went silent and the interview ended.

The Curly Haired Smiling Hugging Jokester.

I remember his smile, his tight curly hair.
He taught me to swim before I could walk.
Rides on trains, sunlit windows.
Beer with spaghetti. Sing alongs.
Buying puppies, even horned toads.
Scaring Mom, playfully.
All wrapped up with tight hugs and kisses.
My fond memories of Dad, who was taken away so, so young.

(December 29th was the anniversary of my Dad's death, who died when I was eight years old).

Crazy 8 Divided by 2 Meme

Got tagged by Patti some time ago with this one. I'm just getting around to it....
Quoting from Patti (Late Bloomerboomer) who was quoting from Linda:
The "Crazy 8's" meme is from Debbie Dolphin of New England Lighthouse Treasures. Linda decided to make it the "Crazy 8's Divided by Two" meme. Sounds good to me.
Claudia, Out on a Limb also tagged me with this one a while ago. So here we go:

A NEW YEAR, A NEW BEGINNING

I dicided to forego my dip into the Hudson River with the Polar Bear Club (haha) and spend my day inside relaxing.

Here's a fun meme for the new year. Got this from Reflecting Pool who got it from Rachel of Lessons Learned. The idea is to post the first sentence from the first post of each month. Enjoy, and please do feel free to use it too.

Here's my first sentences from the 12 months of 2007:

A new year, a new beginning. Thank you Pickled Olives for passing along this meme. So far, so good, another green light day. Tahiti, na huh, it was only foolery in my mind. "Start every day with a smile and get it over with" (w.c. fields). Have a great weekend all and don't forget to move it, move it, because I sure won't. Hey all, guess what? Who's on first? Two cannibals are eating a clown. I'm still waiting for Mondays to be fundays. I've got to go to an all day seminar today. Last night, my friend and I were sitting in the living room.

Not to be outdone by Snot Dog's Resolutions:

1. Have a torrid one-night stand with a street mutt.
2. I will no longer be beholden to the sound of the can opener.
3. Circulate petition that Leg Humping be a juried competition in major dog shows.
4. Call PETA and tell them what that surgical mask-wearing freak does to us when no one is around.
5. Take time from busy schedule to stop and smell the behinds.
6. Hamster: Don't let them figure out I'm just a rat on 'roids, or they'll flush my ass.
7. Grow opposable thumb; break into pantry; decide for MYSELF how much food is *too* much.
8. Get out of the castle more, maybe swim counter-clockwise this year.
9. January 1st: Kill the sock! Must kill the sock! January 2nd - December 31: Re-live victory over the sock.
10. I will NOT chase the damned stick unless I see it LEAVE her HAND.
11. I will NOT wear a red hoody under any circumstance!

A happy and peaceful New Year to All.
