Thursday Thoughts

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.-Carl Bard

I saw that quote yesterday in a one of the newspapers here and it caught my attention. It's not a new concept to me at all... after all I try to start each day as if it's a new beginning. But I needed that reminder, especially this past week. 9/11 tore my essence apart, as I'm sure it did to everyone in this country. It seemed my life was torn in pieces and even though it's put back together, the pieces are not in the same place as they were before. I looked at life in a completely new way from that point on. I made lots of changes because in order to move on they became necessary. Some were good, some not so good. I started over and am trying to make a brand new ending. I don't know what that will be. The new road I've embarked upon is scarey, yet exciting at the same time. I just put one foot in front of the other and go forward. The journey has been a hard one but I'm still moving and enjoying the scenery, which is a good feeling.

I have no idea what I'm trying to convey here but it's what came out of me today. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't want to get stuck in the past, but at the same time I can't forget it. I just can't let it rule my life. So,I greet one day at a time,(ODAT) and make the best I can out of it!
Thanks for listening. :-)

Peace

You've obviously been through a lot, and it's good to see your sense of humor and passion for life haven't been stifled.

The journey may be hard, but the treasures you find along the way make it worthwhile. :-)

I find that by concentrating on the next step in this adventure that we call life I can cope and accomplish some things too. :-)

I don't care if you lick the glass on the train windows, pick yer nose, light your farts on the roof or whatever..... You hang in there sunshine, You're friggin special.

(aren't you glad you got me around to put a little happiness into your life?)

Have a good one.

Later Y'all.

Odat, being able to see the sunrise every day is quite special, your post shows that. I know a few whiners, and the wheelchair makes me into one of them sometimes. But are the mere minor complaints worth more than life itself? Never! Despite your grievous losses, you have a glorious outlook on the scenery of life - life is wonderful, one day at a time (I never knew that was an acronym!). Thanks, and another piece of the great day, of course, is the 'snotty' Spud :>)

That was Ralph on Patti's profile. We do try to deal with each day, and most days are a treat just to experience life which is nearly always good...

Thank you for who you are...

I'm sorry Odat. I didn't lose anyone I knew on 9/11, but so many of my military friends are now deployed because of it.

I don't think we're supposed to forget what happened.

Now it's Patti. I'm so sorry for your loss. You have a great outlook Odat and I can tell life will always be an interesting journey for you. You have a great sense of humor!
I try to keep mine as best I can. No sense being all serious, that's what I say.

Interesting about the acronym...you may have revealed that before Ralph and I started visiting you.

All the best. :-)

I think the quote is fantastical. And I'm happy to hear you look at each new day as a new beginning.

I got exactly what you were trying to say and I'm glad that in a very, very small way I can take that trip with you daily.

Beautiful quote. I'm in the same boat here as you are, or it sounds very similar anyway.

Here's to moving forward :)

Actually, I very much like what Mellon said, Odat. You are friggin' special! And from what I can see of what you're doing, it's working fine! Thank you.

I think it's challenging to celebrate the past - the love and joy shared, the loss and pain - and still celebrate today. I admire you for making that a practice.
