No Work Update :-)

So.....is retirement cracked up to be what they say it is? I'm not really sure what "they" say, but for me the first week has been wonderful. I've certainly been busy, that's for sure. I've got lots to do. I'm working on the house. The first order of business is to get the lawn back in shape and plant my garden. It's still on the chilly side here, which is odd, so I may have to wait a bit longer for the flower garden. Hub and I used to plant loads of vegetables at one point...but I'm not going to do that...I'm trying to keep things simple. I've been visiting Mom a lot, she finally perked up again so that's a load off mind. My retirement party is this Friday and I've got a few lunch dates with those who can't make that party. I'm also still doing paper work to straighten out a few things. That's taking a bit longer than I thought, but I'm trudging away. All in all, it's a good feeling. I feel a lot more relaxed. I've been getting plenty of exercise too. (After all, I've got to look good in that bikini I'll be donning (or not) when I get to Tahiti ;-)

I haven't been visiting all that many blogs lately but I pop in to everyone now and then. I don't keep my computer on all day like when I was at work, so I try to catch up a bit while I'm on here.
Oh and on a sadder note, one of my friend's husband died over the weekend. I just can't believe it. What a weird feeling that is, that we're both widows I mean. I'm going to be there when she crashes...I've got some experience now. So very sad, isn't it?

See y'all tomorrow.

Peace

Glad to see you're keeping on. Sounds like fun a bit. I'm trying the gardening thing too and as you are, nixing the veggie garden.

It must be great not to worry about work.

I told you retired is hard work, soon you will realize that you never did have enough time for a job. Happy to hear about your mom.

That is very sad.

I hope your retirement party is a blast! You know, I may just have to send you one of my many Jimmy Buffet mix cds to listen to while exercising or out in the yard ;-)

I'm busier now than before I retired. I don't know how that happened, it just did. Just enjoy every moment and do all those things you dreamed about doing. Staying active is the key honey.

Yes, that is sad about your friend. I'm so glad that you are going to be there for her. I have a feeling it will help you as much as her. Big hug and lotsa lovies. :)

I felt that way when my father died. I joined a club that I never knew existed. The my parents are dead club. I remain sorry that you are in your club. ((hug)) I'm certain that her pain and loss brings a lot back for you.

the keeping it simple sounds like a great idea. get more enjoyment out of things when they don't overwhelm.

sorry about your friend but she is lucky to have you and I'm sure the sharing will help both of you.

We plant our tomatoes in pots (the five-gallon cat litter style buckets) and place the pots in the sun all day. Thanks for the reminder, fresh home-grown tomatoes in July...

How very bizarre about your friend's husband. She is lucky at least that you'll be there for her, but I'm so sorry that this happened to both of you, especially so young.

Have a fantastic party, and if you need help in the garden call me! I speak Garden.
