Happy Dance of Gratitude Friday

I found this at dragonfly CLaudia's and thought it was so appropriate especially since we just celebrated Memorial Day.
I wish I had know about this last Sunday when I ran into all those servicemen in the city.

The Story of How it all got started

For the past several years as I've been traveling around the country, I've been approaching Soldiers in airports and thanking them for serving for us. On several occasions I have noticed that it felt a little awkward for both of us. There are several reasons, some of which I am even just now learning as I produce this film and talk to more Service Men & Women and Veterans. But they have always appreciated being thanked, and I have always felt better having expressed my gratitude.

I started to think that it would be nice if civilians had a gesture or sign that they could use to say "thank you" quickly and easily without even having to approach. I did some research and found the sign that we are now using.

Is this limited to the military? Not at all. If you look around you I'm sure that you'll find lots of people who are serving their communities, from local to global. If you appreciate their service, give them a sign. Say "thank you from the bottom of my heart."

having spent time in quite a few airports last month...we had many opportunites to say thank you to men and women serving our country. I think this is a great way to do so and have used it....my daughter doesn't cause she wants to make a point for other people....then again she is a little blonde 26 year old...and the ssrvice men don't seem to mind...smile

you know the first time anyone but me thanked sarge was just a few years ago. we were in a little texas town on the way to las vegas and eating (of course) in a tiny roadside joint. sarge had on his viet nam hat. an old guy went by him and nodded and muttered thanks under his breath. it was a moment neither of us will forget. i can still see both their faces in my mind...

smiles, bee

I've seen this before! Since I have so many military in my family and friends circle I asked them what was appropriate in their view. Most of them agreed that a simple smile, or a nod or Thanks! is more than enough. They know.

Thanks for the link to Dragonfly Claudia's. That was an aswesome post, too!

This is truly wonderful. We need to acknowledge the service of all those who do work for our freedoms.

It is about service and gratitude.

I love this video. Thanks for sharing, Odat.

I also love the members of The Greatest Generation I know, one of whom was killed last Sunday. But you read that already on my blog.
