The Weather and Vinny

Vinny

I'm wondering when it may get a little warmer here.  It's been real chilly and rainy all week.  Yesterday and today there's sun!!! But still chilly.  So there you have it...the northeast weather report.  Aren't you glad you stopped by?  ;-) (I even have a weather widget on my side bar! wow, you just get it from all sides)!  Lucky you.

I went to look at Vinny at the shelter on Friday.  He was rescued from another shelter that closed down.  He's 5 years old, house broken, a poodle and dashsound mix.  He had a great personality.  I would have taken him on the spot.  But they told me someone else is seriously interested in him and if they don't want him, I will be called....yeah right.   Now I'm thinking ...what was it about my visit (I brought Snotdog with me) that they didn't like?  Aren't they supposed to be happy that someone wants to take a dog home immediately, on the spot, like I'll take him!!!  I'll pay you the donation fee!  And they said no, not now?  Hmmmmm.

I did notice that Snot dog was not the least bit interested in Vinny. At. All.  So maybe it's not such a good idea.  Snot dog wants to stay the King of the Castle.

Have a sunny Sunday! ;-)
Peace

Maybe Snot Dog would be way too jealous of another canine in the house. He's the lord of the manor and all.
How about a kitty cat instead?

Kidding, just kidding.

34 yrs. ago I went to the Humane Society, picked out a cat, paid $3 bucks and took her home, promising them I'd spay her- which we did. 18 yrs. later she died, I tried to do the same thing. I was informed there would be a background ck, manditory spay, fees, etc. I told them to stick it, and got a cat for $25. 10 yrs. later, I got one for free- they were going to take her to the Humane Society. Moral of story: You can rescue cats and dogs from alot of places. Our Airedale came from Airedale Rescue...

You're not alone with weird happenings at the shelter. I went to our local Humaine Society a few years back and was so appauled by the whole experience that I left and vowed to never return. Much like wht Buffalo said, I was treated like public enemy number one and the fees they asked for would have bought a nice second house.

Patti, I would consider a cat. Snotdog doesn't even react to cats when he sees them....he's so strange!

Akelamalu, I think you're right. It was a spontaneous decision and maybe I should have thought it thru a little more.

Buff and Jeff....Ya know, I thought they would be a little more eager and nicer at the shelter...but they treated me as if I were invisible. They had no "meeting " room for the dogs to get to know one another (and they encouraged me to bring Snotdog to meet Vinny). They actually told us to go outside to meet (and it was raining!!!!) They told me to wait in the hall while they got Vinney. It was really an unpleasant experience.

Getting Vinny a good home is important. I wish you had a better experience with the shelter. That's where we got our girls from. I still miss them.

I love your instinct to get another being to love! Good for you! Whether or not you get Vinnie, I think it's wonderful that you are attending to your heart!

You struck a nerve with this post.

I thought you were a dog person. Interesting that you had cats before.

Have a great Monday.
