Pop Up Thoughts

Dad gave me his curly hair
I fought most of my life to make it straight
Today I appreciate it, as I do my name.

Why do we, as young adults and children always rebel,
when as we grow older we know what our parents said was right all along.

Oh if only I knew then, what I know now.
Peace

I am frequently astonsihed by the things I say to my son sometimes. It takes me back to hearing it from MY dad. Cheers!!

Hey ODAT. I'm 39 and it took that long for me to see my parents were right. I'm just accepting there fact that I am them.

Thanks for feeding Tom while I was gone. He looks very happy.

Mark Twain said something to the effect of "When I was seventeen I thought my father an idiot. When I was twenty-seven, I was amazed at how much the old fool had learned in ten years."

that is a nice post ODAT, Miss Bee and I have just started to notice that we are our parents, that is sad because they are all dead, I think they would have liked to know that we are them.........

So well said. I'm sure there is a deeper meaning we don't understand yet to only finding out as we age just how right our parents were...

Matt...Isn't it uncanny that we are our parents??? Scarey huh?

Mike, Ditto...and it was a pleasure to take care of Tom in your absence...we only had one lil bit of trouble...but I'll let him tell you about it ;-)

Ian, That's says it all!!! Thank you for sharing that!

annie, Yeah right!

cwm, the sad part of it is that the "children" will never believe you until they have it in their own experience....one just has to hope they they'll all turn out ok!

Rogerdodger!!! Hey hey!!! and you got that right! ;-) and only you can decide about your parents. hehe

sarge, think of it as them living thru you...they know!!!

michael, yeah, it's the fact that we all have to go through "it" to get to "it". (did that just make sense?)

Peace

I used to argue with my dad about hair length (early 70's). He wore a crew cut, I had unkempt shoulder length hair. When looking at some HS photos, I won the battle, but lost the war - I lloked like an arse with the hair I wore...parents always knew more than we thought, and way more often than not, were right...

ODAT, hasn't anyone talk you to be ashamed of yourself!? :)

Who knows. I fought terribly with my father over hair length in the Sixties. Was I too lenient with my own son? Who knows. Too late now. Turned out okay. Pretty much.

When I was 18, I thought I knew it ALL. Now, the ONLY thing I DO KNOW... is I don't know a FREAKIN THING!
