A Four Letter Word Called Time

Moments......come and go ,
So fast time goes by......
I wish I could stand still...
As it speeds past me.

Or maybe slow time down,
That way I'd not age.
I'd be forever young....
But would I'd want to, I don't know.

Would I still be who I am today
or someone else completely?

Would I still gain wisdom and experience?
or would my essence stay unchanged,
if time stood still.

Time. So fast when thought about but when I don't pay attention to it, time slows and I usually have plenty of time to get where I'm going or do what I'm doing. Isn't that strange? It's true though. On the other hand if I start to think that I'm running out of time it speeds up. So why is it that time goes faster as we get older? Why do we get older faster? Or faster older?

Benjamin Franklin:
Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that the stuff life is made of.

C. S. Lewis:
The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate of sixty minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is.

Emily Dickinson:
To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else.

Mary Parrish:
Love vanquishes time. To lovers, a moment can be eternity, eternity can be the tick of a clock.

Albert Einstein:
The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once.

Mrs. Manley:
No time like the present.

Rumi:
Come out of the circle of time And into the circle of love.

Will Rogers:
Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.

Take time today!
Peace

Today isn't your birthday, is it? That was a very retrospective, err say I Time Sensitive piece.

I've always said I wanted to freeze Lucy at 1 or two years old and let Ethel grow up. That way I could stop the time and always have an infant and still be able to experience the other one growing up...

Ok, time to get back to my padded room...

Matt,
yup, time is on my side today ;-)

Michael, No it's not my birthday..you'll all know when that comes..lol. This is just one of those TIMES of reflection that happen occassionally.
I think that's a great thought about the twins! (should i join you in the padded room or let you out?)

What a lovely post, odat! Time can fly or crawl--either way, we should savor every moment. I LOVE that Mary Parrish quote.

I love the poem. Love the picture of the butterfly and the quotes!
And I am a believer that time is relative!

Time heals all wounds. And vice versa. (Sometimes.)

My mother always said that time goes faster as you age. Of course I didn't believe her. Now I find that she was right after all. Isn't it amazing how much smarter she became after I got older?

EVERYTHING is relative. Even our relatives.

Nice. The wife, George, and I got George's picture taken today. It's nice to have those little things that you'll remember.

Thanks.

No time like the present is so much more than a gift.

"Time here,
all but means nothing, just shadows that move across the wall
They keep me company, but they don't ask of me
they don't say nothing at all.
And I need just a little more silence
And I need just a little more time
But you send your thieves to me
silently stalking me
Dragging me into your wall"

Sarah McLachlan ~ Time
