Anti sunshine

September: it was the most beautiful of words, he’d always felt, evoking orange-flowers, swallows, and regret.- Alexander Theroux, 1981

'Tis the last rose of summer,Left blooming alone; All her lovely companionsAre faded and gone.
- Thomas Moore, The Last Rose of Summer, 1830

It's getting near that time of the year when I'll be leaving for work in the dark and coming home in the dark. Since yesterday's post was about sunshine, today is all about anti sunshine! that sinister period when the days start getting shorter and it gets more and more difficult to rise and "shine". Altho I do like the early morning (I'm a morning person) and I sure enjoy the quietude of it all, having the sun with me while I travel to work is something surely to be missed.

Oh well....I guess I have to give that up to get the cool breezes of the fall! Happy Fall to Y'all!

Fall is my favorite time of the year. Cool breezes, rainy days. It is just nicer than the rest of the year (in my opinion).

I love fall, but the shorter days wear me down.

I hate the shorter days. Does fall actually begin today or tomorrow? I was thinking about blogging about it. ALthough out here in So Cal, it's not like anything changes until November anyway ;-)

Fall has always been my favorite season. Here in No. Cal, though, there is no logical progression of seasons, which still seems peculiar to me.

I miss the turning leaves and woodsmoke most of all, but don't like the shorter daylight hours. I think we should be on Daylight Savings Time all year.

Sometimes I feel like the last rose of summer.
