I'm feeling really grateful today.
I got together with some friends over the weekend. People I've been friendly with for over 20 years. It was a kind of impromptu get together and something that was sorely needed on my part. Isn't it strange that people are usually put in our paths when we really need them? Anyway, we laughed and we cried over the paths our lives have taken since we last saw each other.
They're the type of friends that I don't see that often. But they're the ones that if I ever needed them under any circumstances would be there....and vice versa! We all became friends because of something we all had in common. Then we all started to get married, one by one, and moving away. Some having children and such, then loosing touch. But when something big happened in our lives we would always call or get together for the wedding, a birthday, a baptism and even a funeral here or there. But when we did we'd just pick up as if we never left off!
Although our lives have changed dramtically over the course of the years, we still have that invisible thread or something that bonds us all together! Is it that absence makes the heart grow fonder? I think it's something else ....something invisible and connected in our hearts and our souls. It's something beautiful, whatever it is. And for that I am grateful! :-)
Peace

Old friends are the best, epecially the ones who'll forgive you for not being in touch for years! its sucks that life sometimes just gets in the way...
That's a very sweet sentiment. I am lucky to have a group of friends I grew up with and we are still close enough to get together a few times a year.
Unfortunately, the only people nowadays that are ever put in my path and driving waaaaaay to slow when I'm running late for work!!
It IS one of life's blessings (good friends)
not to overshadow the new ones also (((((((((Odat)))))))))

brat, Good observation!!! I wasn't even thinking that! But now that ya bring it up, I won't do an "F" word next...(and I had a good one in mind too, lol)
The threads of friendship knoted together with the course of varied lives....

There is an Aztec proverb to the effect that a circle of good friends is like having a necklace of diamonds around your neck.
