I work in NYC.....and whether or not you heard on the news tonight.....a small plane went out of control and hit a high rise apartment building.....I understand one of the Yankees was on that plane and was killed. My heart and prayers go out out to his family and the family of the pilot, who was also killed.
My collegues must of heard about it immediately. I didn't notice at first but everything got really quiet. They all went into the big conference area and turned on the TV. No one was saying anything...they were just watching. I felt it though. It was a reliving of a tradgedy that they went through once before. And we all just watched, in silence.

was heading up the fdr drive a few minutes after it happened, saw it on fire and caught up in traffic uptown........chilling memories !!!......nuf said !

Unfortunately when I saw the news online, I feared that the people of New York would go through exactly what you and your coworkers went through...sorry.
The pitcher was actual a Southern Californian. His family and former high school principal were on every news channel out here tonight.
I thought about you when I heard the news yesterday.

This was terribly sad. My heart goes out to there families.
We are all so lucky no one else was killed or injured.
Yet being scared counts and I can only imagine what everyone must have been thinking or feeling at the time.

Really sad and horrible. This gives a whole new meaning to Deja Vu. It certainly did bring back dreadful memories.
The pitcher WAS the pilot, according to our newscasts. He'd had his license for about 8 months. That type of plane has had a lot of accidents despite having a unique safety feature, a parachute which is easily deployed. NYC is not a good place for a novice to fly.
